About Know Your Well Water
Last reviewed October 25, 2026
Know Your Well Water is an independent educational resource for the roughly 40+ million people in the United States who rely on private wells. Our goal is to help well owners understand their water, troubleshoot common problems, and make informed decisions — without hype and without fear.
What we do
We compile and cross-check guidance from primary public sources — the US EPA, USGS, CDC, and state health, environmental and geological agencies — and translate it into practical, plain-language articles and free interactive tools. We cite those sources on the page so you can verify them.
What we don’t do
- We do not operate a laboratory or perform the water tests we describe.
- We do not claim professional credentials, certifications, or field experience we do not have.
- We do not tell you your water is safe — only testing can do that.
- We do not publish invented products, prices, ratings, or review scores.
A note on trust
Drinking water is a health-sensitive topic, so we are deliberately conservative. Where a question calls for an accredited laboratory, a licensed well professional, or your local health department, we say so. As the site grows, we intend to add named, qualified reviewers; until then, content is presented honestly as documentary research by our editorial team.
